INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS

The IIS University Journal of Commerce and Management (JCM) invites Papers presenting original research in the field of Commerce and Management (including General Management, Human Resource Management, Marketing, Finance, International Business, Information Technology, and Emerging Paradigms in Commerce and Management). Papers are subsequently peer-reviewed, in consultation with our Editorial Committee. Scholars interested in getting their work published in JCM are urged to carefully read the detailed guidelines before submission.

Submission Guidelines
Manuscripts are invited in the following categories: Research Article, Review Article, General Article, Case Study and Book Review.

The manuscript should be typewritten (Times New Roman-12 font size), double-spaced, with one inch margin on all sides. A clear and specific title should be given to the manuscript. The pages should be numbered serially throughout the paper. Illustrations and other materials reproduced from other publications must be properly credited.

Categories of Manuscripts

  • Research Article (not exceeding 8000 words) - Authors should ensure originality, avoiding plagiarism and maintaining ethical standards. Structure research articles with clarity, following sections like abstract, methodology, results, and conclusion. Cite sources accurately and disclose conflicts of interest.
  • Review Article (not exceeding 7000 words) Authors should ensure originality, covering recent developments with critical analysis and balanced perspectives. Structure review articles logically, citing sources accurately and avoiding plagiarism. It should be well focused and organized, and avoid a general ‘textbook’ style.
  • General Article (not exceeding 3000 words) discussing current trends in research in a field that would be of interest to readers outside the field. These include interdisciplinary topics related to commerce & management. The articles should include an abstract, introductory paragraph, brief subheads at appropriate places, illustrations that will help a general reader, and references.
  • Case Study (not exceeding 4000 words) – Authors should present original case studies with clear objectives, a thorough background, and a structured analysis. Describe methods, findings, and their implications, focusing on practical insights and lessons learned. Ensure confidentiality, cite references accurately, disclose conflicts of interest, and follow submission guidelines on formatting, word count, and ethical standards. Case studies should be accompanied by a teaching note.
  • Book Review (not exceeding 3000 words) – should contain a scholarly review of any recent publication in the relevant discipline. Book reviews must consider the theme of the book, providing a brief overview of its sections and chapters, along with the author’s intent and the work's practical implications, followed by conclusion.

Works Cited

In APA style, in-text citations are placed within sentences and paragraphs so that it is clear what information is being quoted or paraphrased and whose information is being cited.

List of Works Cited

Works cited in the text of a Research Paper must appear in a List of Works Cited. This list provides the information necessary to identify and verify each source.

  • Order: Entries should be arranged in alphabetical order by authors' last names. Sources without authors are arranged alphabetically by title within the same list.
  • Book with one author: Author Last name, Initials. (Year). Title, Publisher, Place of publication.
  • Book with more than one author: Author Last Name, Initials., Co Author Last Name, Initials. (Year). Title, Publisher, Place of publication.
  • Print Journal article: Author Last name, Initials. (Year). “Article title”, Journal title, volume number (Issue number), page numbers.
  • Print Journal article, with more than one author: Author Last Name, Initials., Co Author Last Name, Initials. (Year). “Article title”, Journal title, volume number (Issue number), page numbers.
  • E-journal article: Author Last name, Initials. (Year). “Article title”, [Electronic Version] Journal title, volume number (Issue number), page numbers.
  • Print Newspaper article: Author Last name, Initials. (Year Month Day of publication). Article title.
  • Website: Author Last name, Initials. (Date published if available; Specify “N.D.” if no date available). Title of article. Retrieved from: URL.
  • Blogs: Author Last name, Initials. (Year Month Day of publishing). Title of the Article. Retrieved from: URL.
  • Government agency or other organization publication: Name of agency. (Year). Title, (Series information), Publisher, Place of publication.
  • Thesis: Author Last name, Initials. (Year). Title of dissertation, (Unpublished doctoral dissertation). Name of Institution, Location.

Tables and Figures / Illustrations

Tables:
Label each table as Table followed by an Arabic numeral (e.g., Table 1), and provide a descriptive title. Place both the label and the title flush left on separate lines above the table. Use title-style capitalization (capitalize major words, avoid all caps). Include the source and any explanatory notes directly below the table in a caption format.

Figures / Illustrations:
For any visual material other than a table—such as photographs, maps, line drawings, graphs, or charts—use the label Figure (or Fig.), assign an Arabic numeral (e.g., Fig. 1), and add a concise caption. Place the caption beneath the figure and ensure it clearly explains the content or relevance of the illustration.

File Format and Submission Requirements:

  • Photographs and figures must be submitted in high-resolution JPEG or TIFF format.
  • Graphs and charts should be created in Microsoft Excel and submitted as a separate Excel sheet to ensure clarity and editability.

The journal is multidisciplinary; therefore research and review papers of general significance that are written clearly and are well organized will be given preference. Manuscripts that do not adhere to the prescribed format will be rejected.

A covering letter must accompany the submission and should include the name, preferred academic or professional affiliation, address, fax and telephone numbers, and email address of the corresponding author and co author(s)

After a manuscript has been accepted, PDF proofs will be made available to the authors in due course. It is the author’s responsibility to ensure that there are no errors in the proof.

Authors are required to submit a copyright form, duly filled in, along with the manuscript.
